Topic: Do you Know what Salvation means?
Then He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace”. Luke 7:50
The purpose of this lesson is to show that salvation is a gift from God, which we receive through faith in Jesus, and that whoever loves Jesus desires to be close to Him and to do what pleases Him.
Note: Teachers should read Luke 7:36-50.
Duration of the lesson: no more than 5 minutes.
Children
Children, today we will learn about a woman who went to see Jesus. She knew she had done wrong things and needed forgiveness. When she heard that Jesus was at the house of a man named Simon, she went there.
And do you know what she brought? A small jar of very fragrant perfume!
The woman came close to Jesus and stood at his feet. She began to cry. Her tears wet Jesus’ feet. Then she dried His feet with her hair, kissed them, and anointed them with the perfume. She loved Jesus and wanted to be close to him!
And do you know what Jesus did? Jesus didn’t send that woman away. Jesus said, “Your sins are forgiven.” Luke 7:48.
What joy! Jesus forgave that woman! Then Jesus said, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.” Luke 7:50. She believed in Jesus, and Jesus saved her.
Children, salvation is a gift from God. The Bible says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith…” Eph. 2:8. Jesus is our Savior! And we also want to be close to Jesus. How can we do that? We can pray, sing praises, listen to the Word of God, and obey. This month, as we celebrate the Feast of Dedication, let’s say together: “Jesus, I want to be close to you!”
Parents
Parents, let’s teach our children that salvation is a gift from God and that we receive it through faith in Jesus. And let’s teach our children, from a young age, what the Feast of Dedication is. And, together with our children, let’s surrender our hearts more and more to the Lord each day—by praying, singing praises, and attending worship services. Let’s teach them to long to be close to Jesus every day of their lives.
