Then we get to know them better. With Jesus it’s the same. We may hear many stories about Him, but He wants us to know Him more every day. And today we will know more about Jesus with the story of a blind man.

Development

One day Jesus was with His disciples when He saw a man who had been blind from birth. Jesus said, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world” (John 9:5). That man could not see the light, but Jesus—the light of the world—was right there beside him!

Jesus spat on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and put it on the blind man’s eyes. Then He told him to go and wash in the Pool of Siloam: “Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam…” (John 9:7a). And what did the man do? He obeyed! He went to the pool, washed his eyes, and a great miracle happened: “So he went and washed, and came back seeing” (John 9:7b).

What a joy! Now he could see people, the sky, the trees and everything around him, and everyone was amazed! Later, Jesus met him again and asked if he believed in the Son of God. The man asked who He was. Then, Jesus revealed Himself: “You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you” (John 9:37b). And the man answered, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him (John 9:38).

And what does this story teach us? It all began when that man listened to Jesus and obeyed. Jesus told him to go to the pool, and he went.

The waters of that pool remind us of God’s Word, which washes us and teaches us the right way: “…that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word” (Ephesians 5:26). We, too, need to listen to and obey God’s Word. The Bible teaches us to speak the truth, to obey our parents…

That man came to know Jesus more and more. At first, he said, “A man called Jesus.” Later, he said, “He is a prophet.” Finally, when Jesus revealed Himself to him, he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him (John 9:38). We will also get to know Jesus more and more and bear witness to His power!

Conclusion

Children, that man heard Jesus’s word and obeyed. Jesus opened his eyes, and he began to see. But he also came to know more and more who Jesus was, until he believed in Him and worshipped Him. We, too, want to hear and obey God’s Word. In this way, our spiritual eyes are opened, and we come to know the Lord Jesus better each day.

Suggested Praises: Jesus is my shining light; I want to be in your presence Lord; The light that’s brighter than the sun.

Question for Children
Read John, chapter 9, verse 5, and answer: Who is the light of the world? Answer: The Lord Jesus. “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:5

Class Materials

Tempo de leitura: Tamanho: Index Topic: The Miracles of Jesus And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent).
