Topic: The Miracles of Jesus

“And He said to him, ‘Go, wash in the pool of Siloam’ (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.” John 9:7

The purpose of this lesson is to teach that Jesus is the light of the world, and when we hear and obey His Word, we get to know the Lord Jesus more and more each day.

Duration of the lesson: no more than 5 minutes.

Children

One day Jesus was with his disciples, his friends, when he saw a man who was blind from birth. He couldn’t see. But do you know who came right up to him? Jesus! Jesus is the light of the world. He Himself said, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:5.

Jesus spat on the ground, made some clay, and put it on the blind man’s eyes. Then He told him to go to the Pool of Siloam to wash. The man obeyed and came back seeing. What joy! Now he could see people, the sky, the trees, and everything around him. Now he could see everything!

Later, Jesus returned to speak with that man. Jesus revealed who He was to him, and that man believed in the Lord Jesus. He received salvation! Hallelujah! The Bible says: “Then he said, ‘Lord, I believe!’ And he worshiped Him.” John 9:38. Do you see, children? That man listened to Jesus and obeyed.

The waters of that pool are like the Word of God, which washes us and teaches us the right path: “that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word” Eph. 5:26. We, too, will listen to the Word of God and obey it. When mom and dad say, “Let’s read the Bible, the Word of God!” we will listen with joy. In this way, from a very young age, we will come to know and love the Lord Jesus more and more each day.

Parents

Parents, that man didn’t just receive the vision; he came to know who Jesus was. Our children also need us to guide them, from a very young age, to get to know Jesus more and more each day.

So take your children to Sunday School and services, read the Word of God with them every day, and tell them Bible stories. Show them through small acts that Jesus is our Savior. May our children not just grow up hearing about Jesus, but may they have experiences with the Lord from childhood and learn to know Him, love Him, and serve Him.
